How to measure for riding gloves
We know that it can be really challenging to know what size gloves you need- lots gloves have sizes stated in numbers, and others have small, medium and large. However, there’s an easy way to measure your hands which should help you to find the right sized gloves for you… as we explain below.
Why are some gloves sized S, M and L, and some in numbers?
Traditionally, glove sizes were numbers, and many premium brands still use a number system today. That said, many gloves are now sized as small, medium, large, etc.
What does the number refer to?
The number refers to inches and how big your hand is in inches.
How do you measure for riding gloves?
Take a tape measure (and ideally a willing friend!) and measure around your palm, above your thumb, and all the way around. Make sure your tape measure has inches on it as you’ll need this number for the gloves.
What if one hand is bigger than the other?
This isn’t uncommon, that’s why we suggest that your measure both your hands. If one hand is bigger than the other, it is usually a good idea to go up a size so you’re comfortable on both hands.
What if the right size doesn’t feel right?
It’s really important that the gloves you wear fit nicely, are comfortable, and don’t restrict your movement. Even if the size is right, it might be the material they’re made from or design features that mean they feel a bit snug or restrictive. This is one of the benefits of buying in store, but if they aren’t quite right then you can return them as long as they are in a clean, dry and unused state with all original packaging and labelling
